Well this is a little ironic. #hurricaneian now headed straight to PILAR in our Bohicket Marina in Kiawah/Seabrook Island. After watching what it did to our marina in Florida, this is a little bit unnerving. Headed down now to tighten things down. ... See More

Well, all 3 of our "locations" are under attack by #HurricaneIan . First one is in the everglades - Port of the Islands Marina - where we have a slip. Boat is not there right now, and it hasn't even really hit yet. However, here are some videos from our friends. But I really wish they were not there. Those docks are going to be a mess. Water just about to crest over the seawall. More updates as we get them. ... See More

Did you know ...Some of the noisiest animals in the ocean are actually pretty small. They’re called snapping shrimp and new research from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) finds they snap louder as water gets warmer. As climate change warms the world's ocean, the changing soundscape could have far-reaching impacts for both humans and animals. Snapping shrimp are especially important to coral reef ecosystems, where the sound of their snaps dominate the soundscape. Scientists have noticed that the snapping gets louder over the course of the summer. Researchers found that snap frequency more than doubled as they tested shrimp in water temperatures from 68 F and 86 F.Full scientific article here. https://bit.ly/3wE5vdK-Snapping shrimp.
