  • Cocoplum Beach: A white-sand beach with palm trees, beach swings, great for shelling and sand dollars at low tide.
  • Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park: A protected area with aquamarine waters, coral reefs, and deserted cays. Here you can also snorkel on a Sunken Drug Plane. And snorkel a blue hole discovered by Jacques Cousteau himself!
  • Stocking Island: Near Georgetown, Chat & Chill is where you can swim with stingrays. A cool beach bar with hammocks and beach volleyball, they serve grilled food and fresh conch salad made at a stand on the beach. Hamburger Beach is the place to find Starfish. Angelfish blue hole and one of the best hikes are also located here.
  • Pig Beach: Home to the famous swimming pigs of Exuma.
  • Jolly Hall Beach: A tranquil beach with calm waters and scenic views, near Georgetown and Hideaways. 
  • Compass Cay: Swim with the nurse sharks – don’t worry they are bottom feeders!
  • Tropic of Cancer Beach: A pristine white-sand beach that’s relatively untouched, named after the meridian line which defines the start of the tropics that runs right through it. The beach trek takes about an hour one way from Forbes Hill all the way to the start of the Tropic of Cancer.
  • Hooper’s Bay: A peaceful and vast beach with resident sea turtles, located a few minutes from Georgetown. 
  • Staniel Cay: A popular snorkeling destination, Thunderbolt Grotto, filmed in the James Bond movie is located here.
  • Sandy Cay: A mile long sandbar that emerges magically at low tide. The cay is off the southeastern tip of Little Exuma and is a location used in the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
  • Emerald Bay: The Sandals resort is the golfing and spa day destination.
  • Fishing Everywhere: Wahoo, Kingfish and Mahi-mahi Deep sea fishing. Snapper and Grouper reef fishing. Lobster free diving. Bonefishing with a fly rod.
  • In Search of Great Food: The Fish Fry, located just Northwest of Georgetown, is a collection of local bars and restaurants. Often there will be music and a DJ on weekend nights.
  • ATV tour: Explore the southern side of the island, which has fewer real roads than other areas.

Who are PILAR’s Captain & Crew ?

Stephen Bell – Master Captain and Dawn Bell – First Officer,  have been sailing their 48’ Leopard catamaran since 2019. Sailing over 7000 miles in 2024, together they have sailed the entire US East Coast, Cayman, Cuba, all of the Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean down to Grenada.

Stephen and Dawn are advanced scuba diving certified and have spent years together diving worldwide – Galapagos, Belize, Caribbean, Mexico, Raja Ampat to name a few.

Catamaran Sailing Charter FAQs

  1. What is the best time to charter a catamaran sailboat in the Bahamas?  January through May are when the temperatures are most comfortable and enjoyable.
  2. How much does a Bahamas Sailing Charter Catamaran cost?  Our charters start at $2200 which includes food, and any mooring fees.  Bahama taxes, Park fees and island purchases would be your responsibility.  Gratuities are typically 20%. Get full rate details here.
  3. How much money should we bring?  Bahamian Dollars are best currency.   We recommend you bring $200 for any incidentals on the islands you may encounter.
  4.  Where will we sail?  Itineraries are customizable to your preferences but will also be influenced by the wind direction and strength.
